The History of Diverse Concepts, Inc.
Diverse Concepts, Inc. was the creation of three partners, one of which is Henry Wakefield, who believed they could create a company that would be a viable alternative to the large businesses that treated their employees as a number. On June 2002, Diverse Concepts, LLC was born from that idea. Henry Wakefield was selected by the Board of Directors as the President of Diverse Concepts, LLC. While the first year of the company was full of growing pains and paperwork, Diverse Concepts was able to sign its first Commercial client Cooper and Tuerk, LLP in November 2002.
Midway through 2003 Diverse Concepts received the news that it had received its Cage Code approval from the Federal Government. This was a very important leap forward for Diverse Concepts as it could now bid on and sign onto Government contract without the need of another business to sponsor its employees. On October 1, 2003, Diverse Concepts was accepted on its first Government contract with Omen, Inc. and was able to immediately place two employees on contract. To close out the year, Diverse Concepts was able to sign a second Commercial Client, Bader and Cooper.
Early in 2004, Diverse Concepts hired Steven Brower to the support the Groundbreaker contract. He would go onto to complete his Masters Degree while working at Diverse Concepts and finally move to the management team of the company as one of the original partners moved on. In January 1, 2005 was restructured into Diverse Concepts, Inc. to allow the corporation to grow to its full potential. Along with the restructuring, Diverse Concepts self-certified to become a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB). This certification would allow the company to bid on more contracts that are set aside just for those certified businesses.
Early in 2008, Diverse Concepts received news that it was part of the winning team on another Government contract with Comso, Inc. In October 2008, Diverse Concepts began to place individuals on the first awarded TTO under that contract. One of the employees hired was Roy White to provide classroom support on that Government contract. In June 2010, Roy White was elected by the Board of Directors as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Diverse Concepts, Inc. Roy would immediately begin to take Diverse Concepts to new places as he took over the reins for Business Development.
The year 2011 became a milestone year for Diverse Concepts as it doubled in size and began planning to move to a larger facility to allow for growth. In June 2012, Diverse Concepts officially moved from Odenton to Millersville and opened up a PC Repair Lab and an Equipment Testing Facility to continue to expand its business base. This expansion allowed Diverse Concepts to sign additional Commercial contracts and start to bid on Government contracts as the Prime. The Management Team of Diverse Concepts, Inc is excited to begin the New Year because they believe that their company has the potential to double in size once again.
